Health & Safety Advisor

Fortuna is looking for a passionate Health & Safety Advisor to support and lead health, safety, and wellbeing across our farming operations. This role involves coaching, supporting, and influencing teams to ensure our people go home safe every day.  

As a key driver of Fortuna’s safety culture, you will motivate and inspire all staff, champion the Fortuna Way, live our values, and contribute to achieving our vision and safety strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support on-farm health and safety practices – monitor compliance with Fortuna and regulatory health and safety standards, providing guidance and support to Farm Managers and teams to ensure safe and effective operations 
  • Implement Fortuna’s Health & Safety strategy – ensure the strategy is effectively applied across all farms, including coordinating training and maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal requirements 
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture - by coaching, supporting, and influencing safe practices across the business 
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives - including compliance, education and inductions, internal audits, and risk mitigation 
  • Manage incidents and reporting – covering near misses, accidents, investigations, lessons learned, and escalation 
  • Provide health and safety reporting and insights - supporting operational oversight and delivering actionable insights to leadership & board 

What We Are Looking For: 

  • 5+ years' experience in a Health and Safety role, ideally in agriculture or operational environments. 
  • Strong coaching, influencing, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation and best practice. 
  • Experience with incident investigation and safety management systems. 
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach and excellent communication skills.
