Fortuna Group is seeking expressions of interest for a Farm Manager to lead operations at Peat View Dairies, a well-established, award-winning dairy unit in Central Southland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator or an ambitious 2IC ready to step into farm management within a supportive, progressive farming business.
About Peat View Dairies: Peat View Dairies is a 171-hectare, highly productive farm comprised of Otanomomo, Titipua, and Mokotua soils. The farm enjoys Southland’s cool temperate climate and reliable summer rainfall, averaging 1,100mm annually. The farm milks 450 cows, all walking no more than 1,000 metres to a centrally located dairy shed.
Located near the Wrights Bush and Waimatuku peat bogs—Southland’s 3rd and 4th most significant peat ecosystems—the farm includes 40 hectares of QEII-protected covenanted land, reflecting Fortuna’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. About the Role: As Farm Manager, you will take full responsibility for the farm’s operations, systems, and team, including:
- Planning and managing day-to-day farm operations
- Leading and developing the farm team
- Stock management, animal health, and welfare
- Monitoring and improving pasture and feed systems
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
