Contract
We are looking for a Contract Milker with large herd experience to operate our Jenkins Road, Tuatapere farm, located just under an hour from Invercargill.
THE ROLE:
You will need to have high animal welfare standards and a strong understanding of cow nutrition and feed management.
A passion for people management and a proven track record of high performance is essential.
We are looking for someone with a commitment to sustainable practices and a drive to keep our people safe while protecting the environment for future generations. Excellent communication skills are a must, as you’ll work closely with the farm owners, other farm managers, and contract milkers across the wider Fortuna Group network.
You’ll also need the ability to adapt and perform effectively under pressure — the kind that comes with running a large-scale farm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee the daily operation and performance of Jenkins farm (approx. 1,200 cows)

Maintain top tier milking standards, ensuring animal health and welfare are always prioritised

Manage and support staff to achieve production goals efficiently and safely

Maintain clear communication and reporting with Fortuna Group management

Uphold all health, safety, and environmental policies in line with Fortuna’s values

ABOUT THE AREA:
Tuatapere is a friendly rural town in Western Southland, about an hour’s drive (90km) from Invercargill. Known as the “Sausage Capital of New Zealand”, it’s the gateway to the Hump Ridge Track, Blue Cliffs Beach, and Clifden Caves. The town offers great outdoor adventures, a strong community spirit, and local schooling through Tuatapere Community College (Years 1–13) — making it a great place to live, work, and explore.
