The Role:    We are looking for a contract milker to operate our Mokoreta farm.

• You will need to have high animal welfare standards and an understanding on how to feed cows well. 
• A passion for people management along with a proven track record of high performance is required.
• A strong commitment to sustainable practices, and a drive to keep our people safe and protect our environment for future generations is necessary. 
• Good communication skills are a must as you will be working in a wider team environment with the farm owners and other farm managers/contract milkers.
• You will need to have the ability to adapt and maintain effective work behaviour in the face of those inevitable setbacks and pressures that come with farming.

The Farm

• Dairy platform of 369ha on Predominate soil type is Kaiwera with Hinahina Hill covering a minor area within the Catlin’s Conservation Park.
• Mokoreta has a typical climate of coastal Southland with an average annual rainfall of approximately 1200mm.
• 64 bale rotary shed with in-shed meal feeding, protrack and cup removers.
• Production is 960kgMS – 1040kgMS/ha with plenty of scope to improve production.
• The 850-862 cows are wintered off farm on company owned/leased runoffs. 
• You will need 4 FTE’s (incl CM) to run at peak productivity.  Infrastructure includes 4 on farm houses.
• As part of the wider Fortuna Group family, you will enjoy full operational and administrative support on farm.

The District

The farm is located in the Mokoreta–Redan area in the beautiful West Catlins.  It is 27 ks south-east of the township of Wyndham, 55 ks south-east of Gore, 71ks easts of Invercargill

Wyndham Primary School – new entrants to Year 6 with a role of between 110-140 students.  Menzies College, Wyndham – Year 7 to Year 13 with a roll of 340 students.
