With a strong commitment to sustainable practices, we continue to invest significant resources into maintaining and enhancing our ability to keep our people safe, protect our environment for future generations and maintain high standards of animal welfare.

Our aim is to develop a culture in sustainable management that sees our standards leading the way within the dairy industry and operating well above industry norms.

Health and Safety

Along with a designated Health and Safety Officer, we have an independent health and safety manager and all our farms have an appointed a Health and Safety Coordinator and have completed a FarmSafe Health and Safety Plan. To assist in our goal to have zero lost time from accidents, we have initiated a health and safety induction process with all our contractors who also all have their own health and safety processes.

Environmental Management

From effluent storage and nutrient management to regulations, consents and best practice, all our farms have infrastructure designed to maximise production and efficiencies while minimising adverse impacts on the environment.

Animal Welfare

So we can continue to have happy, healthy stock, Fortuna Group farms have adopted the ‘five domains’ for modern animal welfare practice.

  • Nutrition
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Behaviour
  • Mental state

In addition to our five domains practices, we also work closely with VetSouth, run a comprehensive vaccination programme focused on prevention, have carefully managed stock security guidelines and our staff are trained and updated annually in best practise management and legal obligations of animal welfare.
